Step 1: Position Request

To request a new student worker position or to hire additional student workers in your area, please submit a Student Worker Position Request Form no later than 15 business days prior to the proposed start date.

Step 2: Position Posted

You will receive an email notification when the position has been posted and available to collect applications on the Workday ASU Student Career Site.

View your requisition in Workday through the “My Open Job Requisitions” app (you may need to add the app to your Workday Menu.

Step 3: Select Candidates

To view your applicants navigate from the “Overview” tab to the “Candidates” tab in your job requisition. You may disposition applicants as applicable to narrow down candidates for interview.

Click on the candidate’s name to view their full candidate profile. Use the up and down arrows in the top right corner to review additional candidates in the list.

<aside> ‼️ IMPORTANT: You may only contact candidates for interviews after the close date.

Step 4: Interview

The close date has arrived! You may interview your selected candidates, disposition any remaining candidates, and select your hire(s).

You have two options to complete interviews:

  1. “Offline Interview Document Upload” RECOMMENDED

    1. Schedule interview directly with candidate through email or phone.
    2. Triggers “Review Documents for Interview…” task to upload interview evaluation form.

    Build a personalized interview evaluation form, which must include the following:

  2. “Manager to Schedule Interview”

    1. Schedule interview through Workday.
    2. Requires log in to Microsoft/Outlook
    3. Triggers “Give Interview Feedback” task; which is only available 24 hours before scheduled interview

Step 5: Reference Check

All candidates selected for hire must have a completed Reference Check.

To complete the reference check…

  1. Change the candidate’s status to “Reference Check”.
    1. The candidate will automatically receive a Workday task in their inbox to upload their references.
  2. Once the candidate submits their references, you will receive the “Call References and Document Feedback” task.
    1. References are available to view in the candidate’s profile under “Questionnaire Results”, then “Reference Check”.
    2. Complete this task, and submit to finish the reference check.

We expect hiring committees to complete at least one reference. Two is better, and three is ideal.
