All ASU employees, student workers and registered volunteers who drive ASU-owned, leased or rented vehicles for official university business must complete the Authorized Driver Program. Official University Business is defined in Arizona Revised Statutes §38-538.02 and Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-107.
<aside> ‼️ CAUTION: It may take 5-18 business days to become authorized, so please plan accordingly. Driver authorization must be obtained/confirmed prior to the vehicle rental taking place. Failure to meet this deadline will result in personal financial responsibility.

The Authorized Driver Program does not need to be completed by individuals driving their personal vehicles to conduct official university business.

<aside> ‼️ IMPORTANT: Drivers must be 18 years old with a valid U.S. license to operate an ASU owned vehicle. When renting a vehicle for ASU business, drivers are subject to the age requirement set forth by the rental company.

Those not permitted to drive ASU owned, leased or rented vehicles:
UNIVERSITY POLICY | University employee business travelers are covered by State of Arizona Risk Management liability insurance and should decline any additional insurance offered by the car rental agency. The traveler should indicate the rental agreement is for university business by adding "On behalf of Arizona State University" behind the traveler's name on the credit card agreement. This rule does NOT APPLY in foreign countries.
