Graduate Teaching Assistants and Student Workers
To request one-time payments to students that are outside the scope of any other employment they may currently hold at ASU (i.e. student performers for a concert/recital), please submit a Request for One-Time Student Payment(s) no later than 15 business days prior to the proposed start date.

NOTICE: Effective Spring 2025, all ASU employees (including GSAs and TAs) are required to complete a background check BEFORE starting work.
Student workers are not required to complete a background check unless the work performed under the position requires one.
The cost of the background check starts at $54.80 and will be charged to the hiring department/account. Please budget accordingly.

Faculty, Faculty Associates and Staff
Please work with Adrienne Goglia for any additional payments expected for a faculty or staff member.
- Supplemental payments can only be processed for exempt (salaried) employees.
This includes full-time faculty and staff.
- Non-exempt employees, such as hourly staff and student workers, must report hours for their given assignments. This can be done either on their existing pay line, or with an additional role/position.
- Faculty Associates are also not eligible for supplemental pay and must have all assignments detailed on their FA offer letters.
- Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University, nor provide any independent goods or services.
- Acceptance of additional assignments, especially without prior department approval, can be considered a breach of contract.
- Faculty Associates are hired to specified teaching assignments. Any additional assignment must be directly associated with the teaching assignment, or be related to new course instruction.
- Faculty Associates must check with **Adrienne Goglia** before signing or accepting any other appointments on campus to ensure that they remain in compliance with ASU policies. We can consider creative solutions that allow our employees to utilize their skills and talents in multiple ways, and advance notice helps us determine such solutions whenever possible.
