‼️ IMPORTANT: Ideally, interview itineraries are drafted as the applicant lists is awaiting Provost approval. Having this ready before the approval notice helps avoid delays in the search process.

All candidates interview itineraries will include the following:
- 60-minute interview time with the search committee (traditionally occurs over lunch)
- 30-minute meeting with the school director, Heather Landes
- 30-minute meeting with Herberger Dean, Renee Cheng OR Vice Dean, Sandra Stauffer
The school APA contact will schedule Director/Dean-level meetings based on availability.
Travel and accommodations for each finalist will be addressed directly by the school APA contact.
The rest of the itinerary can vary from search to search, but below are a few items to consider including, as appropriate:
Recital/Performance
- Consider blocking off time for a rehearsal (with accompanist or ensemble group) as applicable.
Individualized Instruction and/or Masterclass(s)
- The same student(s) must participate with each finalist.
- A diverse group of students should be asked to participate, considering education level, discipline, gender identity and ethnic background.
Meet & Greet or Q&A Sessions with faculty and/or students
- These sessions can be included after a teaching demo or presentation as noted above.

Campus/Facilities Tour
- Conducted by a member of the search committee.
- Should focus on MDT facilities, particularly those most pertinent to the candidate.
Teaching Demo(s)

‼️ IMPORTANT: The same class must be used for each candidate. This ensures that there is consistency in the material being taught as well as the student group being instructed.

- Provide the class name, meeting time and room.
- Prepare a teaching demo prompt that can be shared with each candidate once contacted, detailing topic(s) to be covered and/or aim for the session.
- Consider factoring in 15-20 mins for a Q&A session with students at the end of the teaching demo.
Research and/or Creative Activity Presentation
- Prepare a presentation prompt that can be shared with each candidate once contacted.
- Consider including 15-20 mins for a Q&A session with faculty at the end of the presentation.

📌 CONSIDER: Be sure to specify if there are any materials the candidates will need to be sent in advance of the interview (i.e. syllabus, repertoire, student projects), or if there are materials you would ask them to prepare.
The school APA contact can share this additional information at the time of interview confirmation or at specific intervals (i.e. one week prior; two days in advance).
